Aust cliff can be accessed from the A403, if traveling from the South of Aust, take the turning directly after crossing the 'Avon' River. There is a series of roundabouts, but follow the A403 to Aust. Continue for quite a while until you reach a sign for a very large roundabout. This roundabout will point to the M48 (Wales, across the old bridge), or M48 East. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF THEM, just before the roundabout is a lane to the left of the Duel Carriageway, take this lane and follow it all the way round. It will lead to a very straight road next to the river, park along this road and walk North (towards the Old Bridge), a public footpath will lead directly onto the beach. If you miss the turnoff, go all the way round the roundabout, stay in the right hand lane, and you can cross the carriageway to access the lane. There is another exit before you reach the Roundabout, but this is easy to find if you haven't been before. To leave, simply follow the straight road down and it will lead onto the A403 in which you can remember for another time!

If accessing Aust from the North, from the roundabout just before the old bridge crossing, turn off and lead towards the A403 (Aust), stay in the right hand lane and just after the roundabout, there is a turn off to a lane on the otherside of the carriageway.

The cliffs at Aust are both to the North and South of the old Severn bridge (The northern bridge). There are more exposed beds at the North end but at the Southern cliffs are washed out more frequently. It is best to check both sides. There is a large concrete defence, holding the bridge up with gives access to both sides of the bridge. There are signs saying 'no right of way', however this refers to the access stairs leading above the bridge and not to the other side. Stick to the two gates enclosing the concrete wall and you will be fine. We asked several workmen at the site to confirm access and they said it was a public right of way.
